FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Four Extraordinary, Limited-Edition Et No 1 Cognac Secured in Melco Crown Entertainment’s Extensive Wine Cellar. Melco Crown Entertainment Limited (NASDAQ: MPEL) (“Melco Crown Entertainment” or “the Company”) has its exclusive wine collection enriched again following the unveiling of the world’s last remaining Penfolds Ampoule at City of Dreams in July. The Company has now secured the only four bottles in Macau of limited edition Chapters of Ampersand Et No 1 Cognac in its luxury wine cellar, a splendid Cognac that unites the very best of the art and craftsmanship of fine spirits and the Swedish tradition of glass making.
Two of the artistic masterpieces will be on display at the newly-elevated two Michelin-starred restaurants Jade Dragon and The Tasting Room at City of Dreams, and the remaining two bottles will be at the Pearl Dragon restaurant and the Premiere Bar at Studio City. Adding internationally-reputed wine labels reflects the ongoing commitment of Melco Crown Entertainment to bring luxury brands of premier leisure and dining to Macau.
A launch event was held November 22 at the Premiere Bar at Studio City, to celebrate the unveiling of the unique Et No 1 Cognac and its entry into the exquisite wine collection of the Company. The event was attended by Mr. Sven-Erik Bucht, Minister of Agriculture of Sweden; Ms. Helena Storm, Sweden’s Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau; Mr. Folke Andersson, Chapters of Ampersand Master Blender and creator of Et No 1; Mr. Johan Belin and Mr. Bertil Davidsson, co-founders of Chapters of Ampersand; and Mr. Kristoffer Luczak, Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage, Melco Crown Entertainment Limited. A tasting session of the delicate Cognac was featured at the event to allow guests and participants to experience the tantalizing combination of taste and sight.
With only 300 bottles released worldwide, and each individually numbered and signed with a Certificate of Origin, Et No 1 Cognac is created by Chapters of Ampersand Master Blender Folke Andersson in collaboration with Cognac Tiffon Maitre de Chais, Richard Braastad. It is a limited blend of two 1943 and 1974 Cognacs interacting with a pre-Phylloxera Cognac dating back to 1870. With infusions reaching back into history, this blend can be considered a true rarity.
The superlative Et No 1 Cognac is bottled in a bespoke hand-crafted Swedish crystal decanter designed by legendary Swedish glass artist Göran Wärff, and is a handmade masterpiece crafted by two of the world’s most skilled and experienced Glass Blowers, Jan-Erik Ritzman and Sven-Åke Carlsson, who bring the design to life by combining Swedish glass and art tradition with the unique taste of Cognac.
With the same dedication to exquisite culinary and wine experiences, two gastronomic jewels at City of Dreams, French chef-d’oeuvre The Tasting Room and the much-coveted innovative Chinese restaurant Jade Dragon, and its sister restaurant Pearl Dragon at Studio City, strive to bestow diners with culinary excellence and attention to detail.
Having been elevated to two Michelin stars in the recently announced MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau 2016, Jade Dragon proudly presented a six-course premium Cognac dinner on November 19 featuring Chef Tam Kwok Fung’s signature Chinese dishes and the personal selections of the Company’s Director of Wines, Master Sommelier João Pires to the pleasure of the many palates present
